Today, a guy in a fancy car tailed me for twenty minutes, just so he could take a picture of my license plate and tell me there's a $300 fine for flicking cigarette ashes out your window. FML

You should have used that time to get his license plate to report him for tailgating

Should have slammed on the brakes and busted that fancy car.

Granted he was being just a tad creepy BUT Smoking is yucky and littering your ashes is even grosser.

I think that was shitty thing of him to do, yet so is flicking ashes. It's called an ash tray OP.

I wish there were a $300 fine for being stupid enough to smoke. Yeah, go ahead and thumb me down, smokers. With all that's known now about the dangers of cigarettes, there is NO good reason to start smoking.

But without cigarettes, how will I be able to blow smoke out of my mouth? My childhood dreams of being a dragon would go up in flames!

#24-- Is it okay to smoke if you're only doing it to look like the people from Mad Men? Or if you have a grudge against your lungs? And they make it so much easier to burn small children!

Cigarette smoking: a slow way to commit suicide.

I love how this mentality magically doesn't apply to diet sodas, the sun, fattening foods, or literally EVERYTHING ELSE THAT IS UNHEALTHY AND CAUSES CANCER. Can someone honesty explain this to me? Why aren't there pictures of morbidly obese people on McDonalds bags? Why aren't there pictures of messed up kidneys and livers on aspartame products? Yeah, smoking is unhealthy, but it gets a lot more hate than every other unhealthy thing on the planet for some reason.

You're kidding, right? Surely you can't honestly believe this bullshit spewing forth? I must believe that you're joking, because no sane, rational person would actually seriously say this. Are you really comparing cigarettes to diet soda? Are you that ludicrously stupid, or are you just trying REALLY hard to troll?

Your lungs are gonna go up in flames

194 does in fact have a valid point. Everything they said is absolutely true. Big food companies would rather you die by their multitude of products (because who's gonna sue over a Big Mac?...can't prove they got morbidly obese/had a heart attack from it) rather than a pack of smokes....we all know what's in cigs, but most don't know what's REALLY in the food we consume on a daily basis. You can put cancer patients pix on a pack of smokes & it won't stop people from smoking (recent studies have already proven that it in fact makes a smoker want to light up), yet I'm willing to bet if you put obese people & damaged kidney pix on billboards the food companies would lose major $...google the study about the new pictures on cig packs & you'll see it's true.

#194-- While you have a point, there is a difference. The sun serves a purpose and only puts you at risk of cancer if you stay in it too long (and even then, it's only skin cancer, which isn't nearly as bad as lung cancer.) You might actually be more unhealthy without the sun. Fast food also includes chemicals that are known to increase the chances of getting cancer (something along those lines), but again, the risk of cancer is far lower than with smoking. What you have to worry about with fast food is of course obesity, but that only happens if you eat fast food on a regular basis (same with cancer), and fast food is not addictive like smoking. Also, fast food, although not the healthiest way to eat, still does serve a purpose, especially if you don't have much money or time, so you can't compare it to smoking, which serves literally NO purpose and does much more damage. However, I do agree that it should be socially acceptable to criticize obese people who eat fast food on a regular basis. I don't remember much about diet sodas, but from your other examples, I think it's safe to assume that diet sodas also serve a purpose (quenching thirst) and don't pose as much of a risk of cancer as smoking. Also, regular sodas contribute to obesity, so I don't see why diet sodas should be hated more... Basically, there are lots of things that are unhealthy that serve a purpose (cell phones may increase the chances of brain tumors, but it would be ridiculously impractical to live without one in today's world). Smoking is MUCH MUCH MUCH more unhealthy than these things, is addictive, and serves ABSOLUTELY NO purpose. Find something that is more comparable to smoking before you make that argument.

Honestly, unless he A) is a cop or B) took a picture of you flicking the ash out of your car, he can't really do anything. What's he gonna say "I saw him flicking ash out of his car here's his license plate number." Unless he has proof (as in photographic evidence of you doing it), it's pretty much hearsay.

Did you tell the guy in most provinces it's illegal to photograph license plates? It's probably not, but at least it would've scared that guy a little bit.

Someone has too much time on their hands...

Well, fortunately the guy was enough of an idiot to not realize that a picture of a license plate only proves that you have a license plate.

Don't worry about it. If the guy had the authority to ticket you you would have gotten a ticket right there and then. If he goes to the cops with a picture of your license plate, the only thing he can prove is that he took a picture of someone's license plate.

I'm not sure why all the comments show so much sympathy? Smokers think throwing theirgarbage all over the place is acceptable, but it's not. I hope you get that $300 fine you asshole.

You hope I die because i want someone to get the proper fine for throwing trash on the ground? And I'm the asshole?

That's a very broad brush you're painting with there.
