Lol, I'm pretty sure they don't want people at Burger King who can actually cook, because then, people will find out that they don't even cook their food properly.
OP, be resourceful! There are a lot of things you can do on your own. You could bake cakes for special occasions (storebought ones can be pretty disgusting), cater small events, develop a table for the farmer's market, or cook for dinner parties. Some folks would love to host a party, but can't cook. Also, coffeehouses still seem to get a good return on their investment. Just get ahold of the Small Business Association in your area to make sure you know enough about business licenses and taxes and whatnot.
they obviously turned you away becasue you'd be wastting your talent working in fast food. you have a better chance at getting a job than some of the people working at BK... it's either that or you have no people skills
or the employer is smart and realized the kitchen workers should be women...
With a criminal record?
well to be fair, there is such a thing as "over-qualified" my sister couldn't get a job at mcdonalds cause she was over-qualified
Yeah, I agree with chefaid87, the economy is very bad and most employers are looking for ppl who can work at any hours.
As someone with a degree appertaining to the workfield, he would've had to pay you more wages. Hence the young, unqualified people employed in menial fast food jobs everywhere.
A culinary degree would not make you a better Burger King employee. It's not like you can go in and put different ingredients in or change the way things are cooked. The only thing a culinary degree does is show them that you are only taking that job until you find something better, so you'll be unreliable.

It has nothing to do with you or your degree, it's the economy. I've seen so many FML's that say "I have ___ degree and got turned down by ___ FML" It sucks, and FYL, but...we're all going through it.
It takes a lot to make an Angry Chicken. You have no idea, sir or madam.
