Today, after finishing work, my friend was having a party next door and my driveway was blocked. I parked 6 houses down and went to the party for 20mins. After coming out after 3 beers, I went to move my car back to my house and go to sleep. I got a DUI for driving 30 feet. FML

You don't drive after drinking, no matter how far it is. You could have to go 5 inches, and you don't drive! Drunk drivers are disgusting. Asshole. Hope they at least revoke your liscence. If it was only 30 feet, you could've walked, you lazy drunk ass.

He was reparking his car! Drunk? 3 beers? really? Seeing as it was a party, chances are it was some light crap like Bud Light - it wasn't even any of the 9-10% ones! 3 x bud light won't get most people drunk who have ever been to college. Let's be realistic here - driving "5 inches" as per your example could not kill anyone or cause an accident. Worst thing that could happen at that distance would be bumping someone (if you are parallel parked in an urban environment) and you'd have to be completely trashed to do that. Most people with a pulse and appropriate number of chromosomes are capable of driving 30 feet drunk, let alone just tipsy. TL;DR: You are wrong. Good try.

in some towns, the penalty for leaving the car on the street overnight is pretty severe, but still, couldn't you have just pulled into HIS driveway?

my towns is one of those towns. however, you can call the police and say you can't move your car and they'll take down the information and ask you to move it ASAP

nobody in california has a has a driveway that's a mile long, ESPECIALLY if it's possible for the driveway to be blocked... come on

I don't think many people understand this FML.. They see it as "I drove my car over to my neighbors, then got a DUI driving back". What he's really saying is when he got home, his driveway was blocked and had to park out on the street, then walked to the party. He got the DUI moving his car back into his driveway after it was clear.
