Several things wrong here. First, why did you buy your son such a realistic-looking gun? Second, why did he take it with him into a bank? Third, why do parents not watch their kids these days? Maybe if you'd be more of a parent, your kid would have a better grasp of right and wrong. That teller wasn't dim-witted. The way kids are these days, it wouldn't be impossible for this to have been a real danger. You're the dim-witted one for not being a parent. YDI
Honestly YDI. You should be aware of which toys your child carries with him. As things are today, your child shouldn't be carrying a toy gun or a toy knife. I hope you sat down to talk with your kid about the situation, and set some rules as to what is right and what is wrong to do and/or ground him, whichever suits you best.
She didn't necessarily know that her son had the toy gun in the first place. I don't think she deserved it. Nobody is really at fault here, but your life doesn't suck either.
After what happened today, I have no sympathy for you. Anyone would have acted the same upon seeing even a toy gun. Maybe we're all a little irrationally gun-shy (no pun intended) after the events in Aurora, CO, but still.
I wouldn't necessarily say you deserved it because it was your 8 year old son that caused the incident, but what did you expect the teller to do??

I can see a very good life coming from this kid. Maybe not a legal one, but a rich one none the less.
Why did you allow your son to bring a gun- even a fake- into a bank in the first place?
