Today, brand new cocktail dress: $300. Matching peep toe heels: $100. Getting my hair done at the salon: $80. Treating myself to a mani/pedi: $50. When finally meeting the guy I have been chatting online with for 2 months, I find out he's my cousin: priceless. FML

Okay I'm the person that wrote this, I wrote it earlier today before I got my account and its one hundered percent true we talked about family we exchanged pics but i had never met him before he was my moms sisters son adn i have never met that part of my family because my mom was disowned for marrying my dad. his last name was my moms maiden name so i didnt think anything of it especially since its a common last name, SMITH. soo yes it may seem ridiculous but its real and awful

I agree with #3. You should have figured it out in 2 months. But after spending $530... you should have ****** him anyway. lol

thats bs i seriously cant believe that you never try to figure out his full name, and that you never traded pictures.

...so you couldn't figure it out in the two months of talking and exchanging pictures and such because your mom was disowned and blah blah blah....but you magically figured it out over dinner???

you spend $480 on stuff for a single date, but consider the $50 manicure treating yourself? I'd love to have that kind of money. i cant believe you didn't even get a last name from him. woulda helped you find out who he was

Everyone is being a bit harsh toward the poster... The situation is not that uncommon, actually. I have a LOT of aunts and uncles, including some that I don't know, because my family is very large. The poster may or may not be talking about a second cousin [son/daughter of the brother/sister of the poster's grandparents], or even a cousin that they were not previously aware of. I have over 50 cousins myself... I'm not even sure who half of them are, I just meet them randomly during family reunions and then forget them the next day. Anyway, sucks to be you. I had something similar to this happen. My parents showed me the picture of a newly popular singer, and I told them I thought he was hott. They then informed me that he was my great-aunt's son, making him my cousin. VERY embarrassing.

hahahha that was dumb.. fun story to tell the rest of your family

alright, clearly alot of you don't know how the whole family tree thing works , she said it was her second cousin when she commented on this. if they have different last names it's not too obvious, especially having the last name smith which she also mentioned, being a smith my self I would know. and if she doesn't know the guy well she's not going to sit there and talk about all her family and cousins and shit. and if they had never met how was she suppose to know? okay yeah, little too much money spent, but its her choice how to spend HER money.
