I was passed over for a boatload of jobs through the years because to some hirers having the best resume in the pile didn't mean as much as being the prettiest woman in the waiting room. That said, the converse is also true. I was hired for some jobs BECAUSE I was ugly and wouldn't be a distraction, the boss' wife wanted a doggy gal on her husband's staff or in a couple of cases, to do all the work so the pretty woman would be free to flit around the department and show off her ****. When I was young it bugged me but now for me it's all about getting the job. Once you're in, you can make things happen but you can't do that if you don't get in. Once you get in the door, be so good at your job and get so much work done that you become indispensible. I got raises and promotions that bosses didn't always want to give me but HAD to because if they didn't, they knew they'd lose me to either another department or a competitor. I made damn sure that keeping me was well worth tolerating my unattractiveness. At one job I had, two bosses who had once fought over who got stuck with ugly me ended up fighting over who got to have me transferred to their section. Take the job, OP, and show them what you are really worth.
