Today, I bought a kitten. I've wanted a cat for years and decided to finally buy one now that I have my own apartment. It turns out I'm allergic to cats. FML

Wouldn't you be aware of that allergy BEFORE you got the cat? You've never had allergy tests done, or gotten a stuffy nose when you were around your friends' cats? I suggest shots if you want to keep it. Either that, or zyrtec. Zyrtec (allergy medication) is WONDERFUL. I'm (supposedly) allergic, and I don't react to my cat at all.

She says buy, but she likely means adopting from a shelter, seeing they still charge for people to adopt so stop with the comments freaking about her not adopting, when she probably did and FYL cuz that sucks for you and #83, cats and dogs both have good and bad qualities about them, i'd say they're equal choose for yourself which you prefer better, but i like my cats better than my dog

Kittens don't shed so no dander so it's impossible to be allergic

so what, when I got my cats, I found I was allergic to them. plus you could get allergy medicine

man, allergies suck. i became allergic to seawater a few years ago, and i loved going to the beach :( i would keep the kitty though, maybe the symptoms will subside after you're exposed more to it.

YDI for buying instead of saving a shelter cat.

maybe you should have taking an allergic test? :P

Maybe you should have learning about tenses =P

how could you have not known about this particular allergy, i mean its not like cats are a rare pet

How could you like them if you have not been around them long enough to know you were allergic, atleast take allergy tests. YDI

Too bad you didn't get a hypoallergenic cat :-(
