Wow, u got owned by an old lady haha, next time try asking how much u'll be paid so u won't waste ur time...but on the good side u did ur good deed for the day lol
So? It's a nice thing to do. Your life is hardly ****** for doing some good.
SeaCoyote: Society puts lots of pressure on you for lots of different things. That's how we keep everything from going to hell. Quit your whining about feeling "pressured" to BE NICE TO PEOPLE. I'll grant that it sounds like the old lady was being a little sneaky, but again, if you don't agree to an amount or a rate up front, you're an idiot and deserve whatever you get.
#6 is right. Tell the ladies the story of how you helped the old lady move, and she gave your her son's favorite racecar from when he was a kid. You kept it to remind you of her and you hope she's ok. Boom, she would be all over you. That still sucks though. You should have done it just to help her, but if she said she was gonna pay you I understand the frustration.
completely agree with 33 and most people again dont equate being paid with getting a crappy racecar, but the best part is all of you saying that you would do hours of back breaking work and feel good about helping the old lady. i doubt half of you would spend the time to do that. plus thanks 43 for bringing humor back into fml
#39 Why couldn't it have been huge furniture? If you have a ramp 1 person could move a ton of furniture if they're strong enough. Also, as I said before, when someone says that they will pay you, most people assume money. I highly doubt that you /never/ expect money, because that's just dumb. Will you babysit 3 kids for 10 hrs and only expect a few lollypops? The real problem with this is that the lady didn't tell him that he wasn't gonna get paid with $$. "ZurRG" is right when he says there is a difference between hauling ass to do a good deed and hauling ass under the pretense of getting money.
40: this is NOT fraud, there was a verbal agreement but no witnesses, therefore no verbal contract formed and therefore is not fraud or anything wrong at all, like 39 says, being paid can be in the form of money or goods. He recieved his payment from her in the form of a racecar, did she say "i'll pay you $XX" no he just thought he would get money for it, just because you have a problem with old people doesn't mean you can start accusing her for "scamming" him... suck it up buttercup

And there was absolutely no way you could turn this story to attract girls?
