Today, I came home to find my dad crying. Turns out my parents are getting divorced because my mom had an affair. With a teacher at my school. A female teacher. And the school isn't going to fire her because she's a good teacher. Every day at school I'm going to have to see her. FML

Why should the school board fire her? It's the teacher's private life and she's not having an affair with one of the students, so why should it be a problem at school? It's gonna be awkward for you and I understand that you must be really upset about it, but you not liking her shouldn't be a reason for her to lose her job.

It's funny how people on here talk about how hot or sexy that must have been... sounds like people watch too much **** or sitcom TV. Real life it is not that glorious at all.

If the school board wont fire her, might I suggest writing some letters to the newspaper, and maybe some local news affiliates etc. The public outrage should be enough to force the school to fire her, or failing that she'll probably quit and leave town

You make me sick. Seriously? She should NOT get fired for this. Why do you think she should? Because she's gay? If you think that the public will outrage over being gay, you should SEE the kind of outrage people conjure up when someone is being discriminated against. Hello lawsuit! Or because she slept with a student's parent? You know that happens every day, right? Just because she's a teacher means she's not allowed to sleep with someone A. Of Legal age and B. Perfectly willing? If the person a teacher is sleeping with isn't one of her students, I say go ahead.

Am I missing something here? Why the hell would she get fired for a relationship with someone of legal age? Just because they're both women or that the women she's having relations with happens to be your mother has no barring on anything. Just like how teachers often teach their own children, it can be awkward, yes, but nothing more. I understand that you're upset but really if your mother is having a relationship with another women I'd sounds like things haven't been right in your family for some time and that it wouldn't have been something your parents could "work out"... It's for the best that they're getting divorced.
