Today, I came home to my empty apartment. My girlfriend had left a note on the floor that said: "Took my stuff and left. Took your stuff and pawned it." FML

A few years ago, someone stole a guitar & amp from our home. A few days later a friend of ours noticed it in a pawn shop & told the owner he knew it was ours & that it was stolen. They will keep it until you file a police report, then legally they have to return it to you.

That note is called "evidence." Bring it to the police, along with every serial number you can dig up. Most areas (or at least the area where I worked in a pawn shop) have a database where every item they take in has its serial number recorded so the police can view it (and--again, at least the one where I worked--taking in stuff with a serial number that "accidentally rubbed off" is a no-no). Go to the area's pawnshops anyway. In Alabama (I don't know about the law in other states) they have to hold pawned items for 18 days so the cops have a chance to see if they're stolen. They can't show you the stuff, but you can ask them to look at it and contact the police. Also, publicize the bitch. Put her name out, and her picture if you can. Feel free to use the internet, but make sure everybody knows she can't be trusted.
