Today, I finally got the nerve to tell my parents that I'm no longer going to pay them a flat percent of my salary, but only what they need to cover my expenses. Their response: "Better find a place of your own then, you freeloading bastard." FML

I don't know whether to vote for YDI or FYL on this one. I can get the YDI vote (go find your own place then!!!), but a percentage?!? That seems like an odd way to pay to live anywhere.

I'm 50/50 here. FYL for them saying that to you, since it's very hard to find an affordable place these days, but YDI for not paying them because they ARE still letting you live there. Although, yeah they should only be paying for your expenses, and not getting a percentage of your salary. Too many unknown variables here.

The OP IS paying though to cover his/her own expenses. They are just refusing to pay for more than they are using.

Depends on what you mean by covering yourself. I paid 500 a month for a room, and another 100 for food, so if you're paying less than 600, you have no right to complain.
