Today, I found out that my cat, that I've had for 3 years, is actually my neighbor's missing cat. FML

that's an awkward conversation. at least the kitty was in safe hands and very close.

Honestly they could be lying, so don't just hand your kitty over. Get some form of proof first.

Nah. If it were the purrfect crime, he wouldn't have gotten caught at all

The thing about locking a cat inside a house is that they can't get out, even if they want to. I'm guessing this is what happened here or its owner would have seen it out around the neighborhood many times before this, so I don't think the cat picked OP over its owner, it had no choice.

Maybe you could have custody of the cat on the weekends.

Too late to give it back now!

I don't suppose that when your neighbors spoke with you the cat caught your tongue.

I can easily see this happening. The cat in my picture was missing for 5 months. Out of nowhere, he returned. Only explanation was that one of my neighbours had him indoors for that long and he was able to finally escape and come home.

if you named that cat "Boston," that probably means you're talking about my cat. 0_0 p.s. found out my neighbors thought my cat was theirs for years.

I hope somebody did this with the puppy my girlfriend used to have. If I were your neighbors, I'd still be sad, but I'd be saying thank you so much for keeping him safe for those years. There's so many worse places he could've ended up.
