Ignore all the trolls. 95% of these people who troll on Internet forums (not just limited to FML) would never say this shit to you in real life, either because they're bullshitting or they don't have the balls. As a fellow vegan I'd say, however, that you should have made your philosophy really clear before even signing up, regardless of who you would end up staying with. And as for people saying you can't travel as a vegan-- maybe they'd like to explain the abundance of vegan travel blogs and books. You can go anywhere in the world and remain a vegan; don't let anyone tell you otherwise. You may have to put in a little effort, but we all put in a little extra effort to do the things we care about, right? And as for "insulting other people if you refuse their meat," well... most folks, even in other cultures, would realize that they'd be insulting you if they tried to guilt you into doing something you are morally opposed to doing.
