Today, I got a ticket. The officer's daughter is my ex. He gave me a ticket for 31 in a 30 mph zone. FML

That ticket won't stand up in court, especially with the arresting officer's relationship to your ex. Fight it!

you can get that disputed! any court will remove it! you can say there was a small hill and you were going down it. trust me u won't have to pay it.

Ok forgive caps but I think this might really help you and this will increase chance of seeing it: ***JUST GO TO COURT AND SAY YOUR SPEEDOMETER SAID YOU WERE GOING 30 EXACTLY!!!*** The judge will NOT care about 1 more MPH, since it is a very trivial difference and a speedometer's needle is very unprecise. It will look worse on the cop then if they decide to show up

hahahhahahahahaha just goes to show you how much a little power can corrupt the simplest people such as cops. that sucks man

take it to court. the judge will laugh in the cop's face.

dude i smell bullshit on this. i think your just pissed she moved on

what state do you live in? because my drivers handbook says you can do 5 mph over the speed during the day time.

This. You can get pulled over for going just 1 over, but you can't get a ticket for under 5. I'm friends with a cop and ask him stuff like this all the time. Either this is a complete lie, or the cop that pulled you over is in big trouble.

I had a friend get a ticket for going two over it is definitely possible and I doubt that the cop would get in trouble. However, this would easily get dismissed in court. You just need to fight it.

You're going to fight this, right? You can go 5mph over the speed limit in California, and I work around police who say they don't bother stopping people until it's 10mph or blatantly dangerous under a given set of circumstances.

WTF that is so gay in Ontario we can go like 10-15 over and not get a ticket.. ex's are the worst

Here's a thought, the OP really was speeding say 40 in a 30 and the cop actually cut him a break by saying he was only 1 over the limit rather than 10.

True, and here's another thought: what if there was really bad weather? If it's raining so bad that you can't even see 2 ft in front of you, then the cop can give you a ticket for even going the speed limit.
