Today, I had to yet again tell my mother-in-law that I wasn't going to name my unborn baby "Ermintrude" after her late mother. My husband told me to stop being difficult, and that he agrees that it would be nice. FML

Today, I helped a lady give birth on the train. She was so happy she asked if she could name the baby after me, but as I told her my name she visibly turned her nose up at it, turned to her husband, and suggested naming it after his grandfather instead. FML

Today, at my cousin's baby shower, there was a discussion on what to name the baby. When the name Jacqueline was brought up, I made a face and exclaimed, "Ugh, I hate that name!" I was then informed that's the name of my cousin's mother-in-law. She definitely heard me. FML

Today, I was reading through a local wedding mag's advice page. A mother-in-law to be was writing about how to handle wanting her son to break off his engagement. I thought, "Wow. That must suck. I'm glad I like my mother-in-law to be." And then I saw her name. FML

Maybe you could compromise and name her "Ermily." Sounds goofy but the story could be that your husband was wasted when he told the doctor a name. He meant to say Emily and it came out Ermily... I don't know, but FYL.

I agree with OP, that name is ridiculous. It doesn't even sound human to be honest. OP, you're the one that has to carry the kid around for 9 months and then go through labor and delivery. If anyone deserves to name it, it's you. Middle name would be the best option here, and tell your husband to stop being a mama's boy. He only says the name is lovely to appease her.
