That happened to me last week. I left my dog in the car in the shade with the windows down and a bowl of water for less than 10 minutes, I came back to 2 policemen standing outside my car while my dog was barking at them because he protects the car. They told me they had already received 3 calls about my dog and that it was a crime and they could put me in jail. I understand the law, but come on. It's not like I can take my dog with me into the store.

In Tucson, AZ, it's a crime to leave an animal in the car alone, summer or winter, even with the car running and the a/c or heat on for any period of time. The police will break the window out and take your pet from you. Too many pets have expired, especially on hot days here.

maybe next time leave a note explaining that the a/c is on. maybe even have your cell # on it so a "good Samaritan" doesn't try and smash your window.
