Today, I photocopied several hundred pages of my school's textbook because I didn't want to buy it. My school later says to just buy it and it will be reimbursed. FML

Bind the photocopied pages together and sell it to the next un-informed student for cheaper.

Are you that cheap? Did you consider that the cost of making the copies, plus the time wasted making the copies, plus the Starbucks coffee you drink in a week could have bought the book?

they probably won't. schools like to screw people over as many times as possible.

Karma. Pure and simple Karma. Next time, just buy the book; people like you just raise the price for the rest of us, as the book company has to get their profits somehow. Can't afford it? Take out a student loan; everyone else does.

cost of photocopying was probably higher than the cost of the book :L.

What they didn't tell you is their "reimbursement" is like a fourth of what you would have paid for it.

I don't get why everyone was saying YDI. Textbooks can be really expensive. I know I spent 600 dollars on textbooks for one semester and when you're a college student that's a lot of money. Most schools don't reimburse you so how would OP have known?

Wow a lot of people really have no idea how expensive text books are. There is no way paying to make a copy would even come close to the cost of the book. It's pretty common for books to cost hundreds of dollars. I once bought a programming book the teacher said we needed. It cost $120 and we never used it at all. I brought it back to the book store and they wouldn't buy it because no teachers were using it the next year.
