Today, I proposed to a girl I'd been in love with for 6 years. I filled the balcony of the building where I'd first laid eyes on her with innumerable roses and, under the starlit sky, I did it. She later posted on facebook 'OMG. This geek I knew from high school did the FUNNIEST thing today'. FML

I'm confused. Were you two at least going out?

Were you two dating at all? Or did you just decide to propose out of nowhere with no prior relationship history?

That makes no sense. So you asked her to marry you, yet you weren't going out? And how are you positive she was talking about you?

I'm pretty sure that the "Geek from high school" isn't him, he's just depressed that she found something some guy she barely knew to be more worthy of her status than him proposing to her.

ummm.... why would you propose to her if you weren't dating?? I really don't get this.

with a reaction like that i assume you weren't dating...ever. so why would you propose to someone you weren't even in a relationship with? that's not romantic, that's messed up!

Yeah...I don't even know what to vote for this one :/

OP please reply and clarify the situation for us. We're yall dating or not? Did she say yes?

That's horrible! That's really cute, though I hope that you had been going out or something, because randomly proposing to her is...well, that's a bad move. Anyways, the real kicker is that she didn't realize that you would get that message? What is it with people these days posting things on facebook that will come back to you (especially when it concerns you!) maybe you weren't the geek? Unless she explained the situation...Hmm. Sorry, man, but if she did that in the first place, she's got no place in your life, that, at least, is my opinion.

She probably didn't care that he would see it. Maybe she even wanted him to so that he'd get the message that he's a creeper. Harsh, yes, but maybe she did.

Ya know, it's a long shot, but she could have just *referred* to him as "the geek from high school," and really had been dating him for a while. So, F his life. That is about the longest shot I think I've ever taken.
