I think maybe the OP meant that his girlfriend referred to him as a "geek from high school" (maybe they were high school sweethearts or they met in high school). It's a stretch, but maybe.

I think that they were dating and that he proposed to her but the FML is that on the same day some geek from high school did something and she finds that more important then the fact that her boyfriend proposed to her in a reeeally romantic way. The OP just didnt make that very clear.

for real, just because you've been in love with HER for 6 years doesnt mean she has been in love with YOU for 6 years, or at all for that matter, if you're not dating someone, the first step is not propose to this girl, its to ask her out on a date. no one gets engaged if they havent at least dated for some amount of time and talked about their feelings. the way you wrote this makes it seem like you werent even dating, and theres no point in proposing to somebody you never dated. if some random person walked up to you and asked you to marry them, would you say yes?

Alright, although it is rather unusual and perhaps unfortunate to propose to someone who does not know you well, we are the last ones to be rude to him like that. OP, apparently you are hurt and I am sorry. Your life does suck, so now nevermind all those who tell you how stupid you are, and just learn from your mistakes and move on. Good luck!
