Today, I received an early Christmas gift from my boyfriend of ten months. It was soap. In a few days he will be receiving his very expensive specialized car horn he has wanted for years, while I will be enjoying my new bar of Walmart brand soap, which has already begun to give me a rash. FML

I could see if it was one of those fancy soap/lotion etc. gift packages. I'd be more concerned that he wants a specialized car horn, that sounds pretty lame to me.

I think the person isn't complaining about how cheap the present is... It's probably more about how insensitive and unthoughtful it is. I would spend a lot on my boyfriend, and if he ever decided to just give me a paper with a poem, or thoughts, or a memory I would be super happy. The people here who are like "You are a bitch for wanting a present, presents aren't needed, etc", well okay, maybe that's okay with you, but obviously not everybody is like that...

10 month relationship is a long enough relationship to buy expensive presents. Most of you who bitch about that here probably spend 2 seconds of your day with your bf/gf. A bar of soap is totally lame. hopefully he will have a suprise for you!

A) some people are allergic to soap, especially scented soaps. B) It's Wal-Mart brand, that should be self-explanatory. Anyway that sucks OP, sounds like you need to work on your communication. There's nothing wrong with agreeing on a budget for Christmas gifts, especially if you have been going out less than a year!
