*sniff, sniff* Does anyone else smell Summer's Eve? Really, musical tastes are one of the less important things to have in common with a partner. They're a bonus.
I'm sorry. FYL. It's one thing if she just doesn't like the music. That would be understandable. But it seems that you having a band is a big joke to her and that just proves she's not supportive of you at all. I hope you can find a girlfriend some day who supports you in everything you do. And if she loves the music too, that's a bonus. :)
If you honestly couldn't handle a relationship with someone who didn't respect your band, you've lost nothing. If you used the ultimatum as a power ploy to get your girlfriend to do what you want, then YDI. Ultimatums have their place in a relationship. If, for example, your SO is a gambling addict then an ultimatum with respect to said addiction is almost required for your own sanity. However, they should always be sincere. If you use ultimatums as a means of control, then don't be surprised if the other person calls your bluff. If they don't, then congratulations, you're well on your way to being on the giving end of an abusive relationship.
I agree with allihall127, relationships, while difficult, must always be as sincere as possible. You have no reason to stop doing whatever it is you like, for anyone, except yourself. I applaud you having stood your ground, and I can only wish you good luck in finding someone who is capable of supporting you, as much as you would her.
Maybe you shouldn't have started a shitty band.
the OP, not you fist mumps
Then why did you reply to his comment?
What a ******* tool, just cause you have a wanker ass band that is going to break up in like 6 months you lost your girl, kill yourself immediately, and also what ******* good musician ever came out of canada, Faith Hill.... welp thats it, go **** a moose canada bitch
Rush, The Guess Who, The Band, Our Lady Peace, Bush, Devin Townshend and all of his projects, Exciter, Finger Eleven, Five Man Electrical Band, Three Days Grace, Despised Icon, Blue Rodeo, just off the top of my head. They're just as influenced, and influential as America, same stream of music for the most part. Just they also have the same rate of failure of bands that any place in the world has. Pretty damn high.
YDI for making your girlfriend support your shitty ass cover band.
You must not have loved her if you had chosen music over her. PS. I'm proud of her for leaving you :)

You're a jerk for putting your band before your girl.
It's a sign from Jesus that she's not the one. Either that or He's trying to tell you that your music really does suck.
