Today, I walked to Starbucks. On the way a homeless guy asked me for change and I lied and said I had no money. On my way back, Strawberry Frappuccino in hand, the same guy recognized me. He followed me for 3 blocks, swearing and yelling at me. FML

you're not obliged to give your money to a bum anyway!

Haha. This happened to me once, just keep on walking and drop a couple of quarters to keep him occupied while you make an escape.

The nerve of you--spending HIS drug/rotgut money on a frappuccino for yourself.

Yes, because all homeless people are obviously sad drug addicts. Sigh. People are so misinformed even when the economy is this bad, it's beyond comprehension. We have no compassion or empathy for anyone unless it's an absolute catastrophe. Until then, we couldn't care less.

You don't give them money, you give them a bottle of water or food. If you give them money there's no guarantee that they won't buy booze or drugs with it. And anyway, you're not obligated to give him anything. :/

hobos are annoying and you should have kicked him in the crotch.

Depending on his approach I either give or not give. But if i have change as in coins, then yeah they usually get that. I almost never give the homeless more than a dollar.

BAHAHAHAAHH #29, that made my day (:

Should have told him to go get an effing job. I'm sympathetic to a point but when they act like you owe them something it ridiculous. This one time one asked me for change and I apologized and said I didn't have any, then he went on a rant about the diamond studs in my ears. As if id give him my diamond earrings.

To all the people saying the OP should have given money or food...I gave food to a homeless person once and they threw it on the ground saying they wanted cash. Another lady actually gave him cash and he went straight to the liquor store. Plus the police say not to give them money. It's for safety and you really don't help them when you enable them to stand on the street instead of put their lives together.

Oh, please. Some homeless people are faking it, some are drug addicts. Yes. However there are plenty of legitimately homeless and hopeless people out there, struggling to just eat. Give them food, water, etc.. if they reject it move it. They are faking it. If they take it warmly (trust me if you really are homeless the sight of a good meal will be like winning a mansion) then give them some money too. "Getting your life together" isn't free and it's not cheap. People assume homeless people are so by choice. Sometimes that's the case, not always.

423- stop ranting at people who don't give money to hobos. maybe it's hard to get on your feet, but most make no effort to do so. and chances are, stupid choices out them there anyway.

The most practical solution is to donate to a charity that will help feed them or try to get them back on their feet.

you could've just said you payed for it with a credit card...

"Today I waited on my street corner for some change so that I can get by tomorrow. I asked some kid for change, later he came back with starbucks in one hand. I chased him down 3 blocks cursing at him. FML"

You deserve it for going to Starbucks.
