Get better brakes.
That sucks, and I very much understand at being frustrated at the incompetent driver in front of you, but the police officer was correct. Proper following distance should allow the person in front of you to panic stop without you rear-ending them. That's what I've always been taught. What if something had fallen in the road in front of her? Always leave room for panic stops. Still, I get just as frustrated with drivers who slam on their brakes for stupid reasons (that should draw the cops attention if the radar didn't) so I'm voting both FYL and YDI.
yeah that sucks, but it is your fault. if you were paying attention and were a safe distance away, you would have seen her slam on her breaks and would have been able to slow down as well. maybe you need to go back to driver's ed if you did this and failed to see that you deserve to pay the damages...
Seriously It's her fault for being another worthless woman driver. WHO SLAMS ON THEIR BREAKS when they see a cop? FYL OP no joke. If I was you and that shit happened to me You can bet she would get a double kick through her windshield for being an inconsiderate asshole. **** that it's 100% her fault Slamming on the breaks people who say YDI are shit-chucking apes who don't know how to drive.
Learn to drive by the rules maybe?
Dude, really sorry to hear about that. I personally am one of those "granny drivers." My typical freeway speed is 65-70 mph and no more on a good day. I'm usually a bit paranoid about safety that I keep about 2 or more cars worth of space between myself and the guy in front of me. On the other hand, my typical reaction when a cop enters my area is to take my foot off the pedal and let my transmission slow down gradually. This is just my instinct. I guess the benefit aside from saving my brakes is that my speed never fluctuates suspiciously.

Thats the technical definition of tailgating. If you're so close to the other car that in a situation in which the car in front of you suddenly breaks, and you rear end the car in front of you, that would be tailgating. Really, what do you think tailgating is if its not exactly the situation you're in now?
I cant stand people who slam on their brakes whenever they see a cop. Especially when the dudes on the other side of the highway
