Today, I was giving a lecture to my class I heard a phone go off. Aggravated and exhausted, I asked everyone to turn their phones off. Then the phone rang again. I lost my shit and spent the next half hour calling my students a bunch of "technology whores". Then I realized the phone was mine. FML

I hope for your sake you played it out until the end of class at least :P I agree that cell phones going off in class is annoying as ****, especially since people appearently need their phone on the LOUDEST POSSIBLE VOLUME in order to hear it ring... but the reality of it is its never gonna be unavoidable. Cell phones are here to stay.

Its ok, because now your students not only know you are a spaz, but stupid/oblivious as well. Cheers!

you deserved this. bit time. i hope you got called out on that shit by your students.

Ugh, you remind me of my dick of a geometry teacher. You deserve it, and like #55 said, I hope your students called you out.

hahahahaha that's so funny, you should get some sleep Prof! Just remember the teacher is never wrong just like my NCO in the Army

I understand that cell phones are disruptive, and I completely agree that they should be shut off or set to vibrate during class, but I hate it when teachers/professors flip out when a phone goes off, though I can sort of understand if you were already in a lousy mood, tired, and exasperated. Though, honestly, wouldn't you recognize your own damn ring tone, especially if it's coming from your stuff?
