If you ask me, he had it coming.
You don't love her. You can't love somebody you've never talked to before. You should've just asked the girl you LIKE out in person.
even if it was the grinch or hitler?
I'm sorry but what is it with guys doing this kinda thing when they're just asking a girl to homecoming or the prom? Especially since it's homecoming she's probably not going to remember it that much down the line anyway. You're not asking to marry her so why make asking her to one dance such a big spectacle? You deserve it for not having the balls to ask her straight forward; even more so for having your friend go through it with her. The fact that you had to do a scavenger hunt says to me that you needed to do something that would: A) guilt her into going with you, and B) try to prove to her that she should go out with you. I'm not saying you were doing this consciously, but you should have manned up. If she's not into you she's not into you. I can guarantee you though that there is some girl out there who would like to be your date to homecoming and that you don't know it or you're not into her.
Oh wait wait wait!!! I have a theory! All those guys that come on here and make extravagant plans to ask a girl to homecoming and then she says no are the same guys whose girlfriends will post on here in a few years because they got a crappy proposal... :P That's why there's so many crappy proposal stories on here...they all asked out girls to homecoming before in some awesome way, but they said no...so now they figure "Ah, why make any effort if she might say no" ;) lol...
I agree with #32. Anyway, I think that's an adorable idea. Maybe it would be more effective if you already knew she was interested in you. Still, I love it. I want to hunt for buzzards and other scavengers!
You hinted at what I wanted to say. I was going to say: Don't mention the word scavenger around someone you "love;" it brings to mind images of buzzards, hyenas and maggots. You don't want your crush to think you view her as a maggot needing dead, rotting flesh for survival. Also, you did your friend a solid. Maybe he'll give you the details of how he got laid after homecoming. Hos before bros.
Exactly! That guy was like, "**** you, man, I'm gonna get some pussaayyy!"
He did send her on a scavenger hunt and she ended up finding a scavenger. Although, the OP doesn't exactly sound like a top-of-the-food-chain predator.

You should have just asked her instead of doing a scavenger hunt. And you should have led her on the hunt yourself at least. YDI
Ugh that's harsh. I'm sorry that happened.
