Today, I was putting my horse away into her pasture, when I slipped in the mud. In a haisty attempt to support myself, I grabbed the electric fence in on hand, and my horse with the other. The shock from the fence traveled through me to her, sending her running and leaving me with 2 broken teeth. FML

I've done that before (minus the broken teeth). And anybody who is ignorant enough to think that electric fences are cruel, think again. They prevent the horses from ploughing through the wooden fence which often causes serious and sometimes fatal damage. The electric fence is only a small shock (like a static shock) and they rarely touch it. It protects them from serious injury. Accidents happen people, chill out.

That's a pretty major FYL. Electrocuted and kicked in the teeth by a horse. And probably muddied. Ouch =(

I have had my teeth almost knocked out by a horse. Almost all of my front ones (from canines in, top and bottom) were super loose and twisted up. I went to the dentist and he said that he got accidents like these all the time (big polo field by my house) and that they are very quick and easy to fix. He said that usually the people are normally eating and everything within a week. And their teeth are prettier than before.

Okay people, electric fences dont ELECTROCUTE, they SHOCK. I've accidently touched mine MANY times and it feels like static shock. However, if you were to GRAB it like this person did, then yes, it would hurt and travel to the horse. But electric fences are far, far from cruel. We use one to keep our horses from getting to our actual fence because 1) horse like to chew on things and 2) they respect the electric fence so if they panic they aren't going to try to run through it like they might a wooden/wire (not barbed wire, smooth wire) fence. This was obviously an accident and I've done things similiar - I'm pretty sure all of us have grabbed onto something stupid when we were falling, it's a natural reflex.

Just because she owns a horse, doesn't mean she doesn't own a car. You will rarely find a person that uses a horse to actually travel to a city for work or school or whatever. Oh, and your a jackass for saying she deserves it.

so ur saying that she gonnna ride the horse places she probally lives in da country

Poor girl. You can tell when there's unsympathetic fools when the FMLs outweight the YDI. I hope she isn't too badly hurt, the pain must be excruciating!

"putting my horse in her pasture" sounds like a euphemism for something...

hmm well for some reason that's the first thing i thought while reading the phrase. certainly doesn't happen for every fml. and calm down on the caps please. my speakers can't handle the volume :)

Then you obviously know nothing about electricity.

For some stupid reason when I was a kid my church's youth group took us to a farm and made us all hold hands and then the first person grabbed an electric fence. And guess what!?!?! Everyone else got shocked too. Alot less than the first person, but... thats how electricity works. It's okay, they'll teach you that when you get to middle school. :)

when i first saw this, i thought it was sexual...but youre an idiot

I know right! I read 'putting my horse into her pasture, when i slipped in the mud" and had to read it three times over to realise he wasnt talking about accidentally going anal and having some girl punch out his teeth

this wouldnt happen, its a lie. you touched the electric fence with one hand, and the horse with the other. if you zapped your horse, that brings the electricity from one arm to the other, across your heart. it doesnt take much electricity to stop your heart. youd be dead by now if that happened. stop posting lies

it's actully very possible this happen. we did an experiment like this in a science class where one person would touch an electrical force and everyone would hold hands and it can pass through several people. electric fences are not huge electrical forces, it's a small shock that will tell a horse to back off. it's not a bolt of electricity.

Thank you, #31. I'm glad someone here has some sense in their brain.

they tested passing an electric fence current through people on Brainiac too. they all stood in a line holding hands and then the one on the end grabbed the fence, they all jumped from getting a small jolt that was it, no death, no bad injuries, just a small jolt. In this experiment they GRABBED the fence, not with the same force as a fall would make you grab it but with enough force to properly test the current, electric fences are not known for causing death.
