Today, I was waitressing for a huge family. Their bill was $750. Excited about the tip, I was shocked to see only $0.50. As they were leaving, I threw the two whole quarters at their heads. Guess who also got fired today. FML

they probably should've left a better tip, but at the same time you can't throw quarters at a customers head and not expect to be fired.

For them to leave only 50 cents it was clearly as an insult to the waitress imo.

While its understandable why you would be upset, I still have to say YDI. It you want to keep your job sometimes you have eat shit and pretend to like it.

Lets be realistic. There might have been a reason that u may have not been tipped and if they didnt tip cause theyre assholes then karma will get em back. But comin here and whinin about it aint helpin ur case. Get over it

What the **** is wrong with you? You're a horrible waitress.

I understand, but that was unnecessary. don't go expecting you will be handed extra for doing a job you are paid to do.

Some waitressing jobs get paid below minimum wage because they are expected to get tips.

In the states we are taxed on tips whether we get them or not. If I serve a table and they don't tip me, I still pay a percentage of their bill.

Yes, but that is not the fault of the patrons, it is the fault of the system. Instead of wasting all the time throwing quarters and trying to get people to change individually, why no work on fixing the system. If tips were eliminated and waiters were just paid normal minimum wage I don't think the problems would continue.

If you had ended this at "$0.50" I would have thought FYL, but you ruined it by being impulsively rude and rightly fired. Ultimately, YDI.

Imagine the work to wait on a large family racking up a 750 dollar bill.. And other tables. They obviously aren't struggling for money too much to giver her a decent tip, or else they wouldn't be going to a restaurant that expensive ordering that much food.

That's what your dumb ass gets. Don't except a huge tip cuz it's a big bill dummy

She didn't expect a large tip because it was a large bill, she expected a large tip because to serve up 750 dollars of food to one family on top of other tables, that's a lot of work, especially for people who make below minimum wage, literally relying on tips to survive, tip's should be 15-20% of the bill, 50 cents is less than .06 percent. I hope you don't tip like that and go back to those restaurants, because they'll remember you. And they'll be handling your food as well. Lets hope they're forgiving.

You guys are retarded. They spent $750 and couldn't even break a 5 as a tip. That's pathetic and all those saying YDI would probably bitch and whine too. Obviously the dining party was large.

Why was gratuity not automatically added?

A lot of restaurants don't do that. I've heard of them but I've worked at four restaurants and two casual diners and not one has done it.

I'm sorry OP. As a waitress myself I understand your pain...but that still doesn't mean you can assault the customer. I wish I could vote both ydi and fyl. For the people saying you need to "earn" your tip...I agree, but at the same time we PAY a percentage of each bill out of our paychecks. The tip is supposed to cover that.

Last I checked, you can click both options.

My phone doesn't let me. Once I choose one I can't switch.

It's not our fault...the government taxes us on our tips whether we get them or not.
