Today, I was waitressing for a huge family. Their bill was $750. Excited about the tip, I was shocked to see only $0.50. As they were leaving, I threw the two whole quarters at their heads. Guess who also got fired today. FML

they probably should've left a better tip, but at the same time you can't throw quarters at a customers head and not expect to be fired.

For them to leave only 50 cents it was clearly as an insult to the waitress imo.

The customer is always right, sadly

YDI You bitch. Be grateful you got something, did you forget some aren't as fortunate to have even 50 cents. You deserved it all the way.

FYL for the shitty tip but YDI for throwing the quarters. That's dumb as ****. What the **** did you THINK would happen?

I do agree that they were complete assholes for leaving such a crappy tip, but YOU are MORE wrong for throwing the money at them. Learn to control your temper! YDI.

If you treat your customers like that I'm glad you got fired! I'm guessing they left you 50 cents because you provided shitty service. Next time try taking a bit more pride in your job.

suck it up princess. people have a lot worse jobs and they don't get tips. glad you got fired. I work at a nursing home hauling garbage and get dirty diapers falling on my head and I don't get a fcking tip. sack up

I completely agree with your actions. I'm 17 and a waitress. It can be a ridiculously horrible job since we more or less make our money on tips depending on the hours we work a week. I give you an outstanding applause!

You need to grow up lady, you don't assault customers because they left you a poor tip. If you cannot handle bad custom, you should leave the food industry right now.

#253 and other demanding little princesses: this job is not for you. Tips are optional, that's why they are not included in the bill, so I could tip as much as I think you deserve. They are not automatic. For you to applaud somebody ASSAULTING people out of greed when they did not deserve to be paid extra shows that you are greedy soulless little scumbags. WORK extra and you'll be rewarded with extra money. I DO NOT have to pay you extra over the cost of my meal. Just because you brought out some dishes doesn't mean I have to pay you extra. And don't even start me on little scumbags like you threatening to contaminate people's food with harmful substances - that WILL land you in jail one day, and for good reason. If you don't like restaurant business, get out and do some other work. Obviously, people are generous enough on average to make it rather lucrative for you or you would not be doing it.

That's REAL shitty that they left a measly 50 cents on a 750 dollar bill...but honestly, did you really expect to keep your job after losing it like that? YDI

I wish I could vote both ways on this one.... I know that not all restaurants (even the big chains) automatically include gratuity in the bill. The one I work at doesn't allow it, matter the size of the party. Since I know this , however, I find ways to bring it up...tactfully to my guests. It is frustrating to receive an inferior tip (assuming the service deserved one) but you certainly overreacted. To those of you who say she made the money no matter what, you're wrong. Many restaurants use a "tip out" policy based on your SALES, not on your EARNINGS, which is money you lose at the end of the night. By leaving only $0.50, this party cost her a lot of money for the night. Essentially, she paid them to wait on them, and that is wrong in any case, bad service or not.

Another case of someone expecting something that is not required to be given.
