Today, I went for a jog. While passing by my neighbor's house, their six year old son started throwing peanuts at me screaming, "I hope this kills you!" because I'm allergic to peanuts. FML

It is comments like some of these that make me have a severe dislike of people. You are all well entitled to your opinion, however it's blatantly obvious that the ones who are actually laughing at this have never known anyone with a severe allergy. It is exceptionally dangerous, and you do have to be extremely careful when it comes to allergies like that. It's somebody's life, and we should be respectful of that. Living with a peanut allergy is incredibly difficult. Unfortunately, it's hard to grasp the concept until you have had to experience it yourself, or seen someone almost die because of sheer ignorance and stupidity.

It's comments like the ones you are talking about that I rarely read the comments here anymore, or even on Youtube. This is why some sites don't even allow for comments.

If your friend "scraped the nuts of the cone" and then still managed to eat it without having a reaction then maybe she doesn't actually have the allergy, she may have grown out of it. You could never scrape every nut of a cone and be sure you got them all without leaving tiny traces of them.

Indeed, it's not like being allergic to sugar (a.k.a being type 1 diabetic and not having your insulin handy and ready)

I'm allergic to peanuts and I thought this was funny as hell. Having a peanut thrown at you won't do anything even if you are allergic.

It's comments like these that make me want to facepalm. Maybe you were just born without a sense of humor, but come on, stop taking stuff so seriously. It's the internet. Did the OP die? No. Were they in any danger of dying? No. So just STFU and enjoy a good FML. And before you rip me one on how I "have never known anyone with a severe allergy": I am severely allergic to apples and carrots.

I'm with #57 on this. Have a sense of humor. Yes, the OP has a severe allergy, but obviously nothing happened. It's just a funny image picturing some crazy kid throwing peanuts at you and the OP's expression that kind of looks like "wtf". Anyway, OP, I hope you get those people evicted or something. I'm not really sure how that works...but get them out of your freaking neighborhood, and you definitely could say that it's a life or death matter.

@ 46: not all allergies are the same way, they work differently in different bodies. i have known several people who are allergic to spores and even if someone opened a jar of peanuts in the same room as them, they would go into shock. i understand that this was outside, so it was most likely not very dangerous, but it's the entire premise: the child was trying to inflict harm in some way on the OP. not a good situation. what if he does it to one of his classmates at school? he needs to understand that someone can die or be in danger, even without direct contact.

Depends how allergic. I remember hearing a story on the news awhile back, about some girl in Canada who die from an allergic reaction to peanuts after she kissed her boyfriend a few hours after he ate a peanut butter sandwich. Personally I think that's just survival of the fittest taking place, but apparently some allergies really are that bad.

Faved it. I feel bad. but the concept is funny.

People are so pleasant these days aren't they? (I've had a bad day, I'm rather grumpy at the moment and I almost wish you'd have walked over and shoved something up his nose)
