Today, I went to the dentist after not being there for 3 years. I was told that I had loads of cavities and that I would need to pay $3,000 for a serious mouth surgery. The reason I hadn't been to the dentist in 3 years: I've been married to a dentist for 3 years that said my teeth were "perfect." FML

WTF ever. dentists lie and say you need all this surgery to get paid! I had 16 cavities once as a teen and did not have effing oral surgery. get a 2nd and 3rd opinion before you waste money and your insurance drop you.

You still need to go. They have the right tools to check on your teeth and gums.

3 years of not going to the dentist isn't long enough to make your mouth require $3000 of work.. so you either didn't care for it much prior to that, or your dentist is trying to get money from you for work that doesn't need to be dnoe

call a bullshit on that dentist and sue his ass, the American way!

it's like being married to a mechanic. He will always say "I didn't hear that sound you were talking about, it runs just fine!" just to get out of spending alot of time and money on it.lol

I agree, get a second opinion. And, I don't know any dentist that would tell you that you don't have to go. You still have to go to get your teeth checked, and cleaned

this is why you don't use family / close friends for stuff like that... not because they're probably incompetent - they might be very competent - but it just makes a big mess if something goes wrong :/

Couldn't your spouse cover you with a dental plan, and give you a proper check up?

Sounds like your wife doesn't know her way around your mouth as well as you think. Stop whining on the Internet and let her whispering eye get a better look in there.

maybe they were so bad ur wife ddnt wanna hurt ur feelings

This is double bad. She must not be a very good dentist and you two probably can't afford to pay for the surgery.

If you say you have not been to a dentist or not brushed your teeth for an extended period of time, it is more believable if you suddenly have multiple cavities that you never noticed before.
