She just wanted your comfort. Two of my cats growing up even though they could have done it in any of my siblings rooms.. Gave birth under my bed and under my dresser. They feel safe and for the first time giving birth its scary for them. Its scary for anyone. Congrats on the adorable cuties.

Its called spaying. There are homeless pets everywhere, and hundreds being put down everyday because there are no home. A responsible pet owner would spay their cat.
