how do you know it's the same spider? also, why kill it? You live in the UK... We don't have any dangerous spiders... you could have just caught it and released it outside like a humane individual...
Humane? Puh-leeze on this crap. Killing a spider doesn't make someone inhumane IMO. I realize it's sort of a fine line since killing a dog because you felt like it is inhumane, but it's a spider. People kill them all the time. Arachnophobia is so common it's "normal".
fear of dogs is common.
Not true. Here in the UK there are 12 known species of venomous and dangerous spiders, 2 of those species closely related to the black widow. OP you're a brave soul letting it live in your house, I kill every bug in my room whether it be moth, flew, spider if anything else
true, but of those 12 species none of them have a powerful enough bite to kill a human. Also there are over 700 different species of spider here in the UK, which equates to a 1 in 58 chance that any single spider you find has powerful enough venom to effect you in any way.
YDI. Spiders celebrate Festivus, not Christmas. And you just lost in the Feats of Strength.
YDI for not killing it or at least putting it outside.
Maybe the spider is normally afraid of your face, but in the spirit of Christmas decided to say "good morning".
Why didn't you just catch it and release it outside. Win win?
OP, please come back and tell us what superpowers you got from the spider.
The power of hindsight.

He was just coming back to thank you for saving him. Now give spider bro a hug.
Why wouldn't you just put it outside and not kill it, you didn't HAVE to let it live in your room.
