Today, at work I had to handle two selfish parents returning their adopted 6 year-old daughter to foster care because, “She doesn’t, like, fit with our lifestyle, and my mom is, like, too old to babysit her anymore and we, like, can’t afford a nanny.” I hate my job. FML

Today, I heard my 7 year-old step-daughter tell her father over Zoom she cries every night, because she wants to go home with him. I don't have the heart to tell her that he had kicked her and her mom out of the house because he thought mom's stretch marks were unattractive. FML

You know what, I hope you're joking. Because if you're not, and OP caves in, her kid is going to be as rude and spoiled as you are. I never had that many toys, nor did I ever ask for many. My favorites at that age were American Girl dolls, but I know if I had ever made a comment like that, I wouldn't have seen any new toys for a very long time. Just ******* grow up already.

Simply tell her "your Crazy Kid", to bad your stuck with me & if I hear another comment like that, that'll be your LAST toy you'll see till Christma! And btw, your lucky that I let you STILL keep that toy! Stick with that. Eventually she/he will appreciate "you" more.

shes only 8. she doesnt fully understand adoption. shes just a kid. tell her she has to earn toys by getting good grades or something.

You'd be surprised. At 8 kids are fully capable of understanding adoption. My son definitely did. As long as the parent doesn't spring it on them or make them feel like adoption makes them less than any other family member.
