Today, my boyfriend bought us three kittens. Today, I also discovered that I am allergic to cats. My boyfriend broke up with me because he wanted the cats more than me. FML

This is one of those times where more pussy isn't always the better option.

That's a completely legit reason. Have you seen kittens?

He sounds crazy- what other kind of person buys THREE cats on a whim? (And why would you buy a cat anyway when it's so easy to find them for free or up for adoption at a shelter?) He sounds impulsive and irresponsible. Even getting one cat was a big adjustment for me, and it was the same a few months later when my roommate got her cat. I can't imagine getting three all at once. Take it as a sign that he's well on his way to becoming a cat hoarder, and consider yourself lucky to be rid of him before you wasted any more of your time. And just so you know for the future, it is possible to live with a cat when you have allergies. I have a mild cat allergy (sneezing, coughing, itchy eyes), but after a few months of living with them I don't have a reaction to the cats here. So if you ever meet a non-crazy guy who happens to own a cat, know that it doesn't have to be a deal-breaker. :)

Hey, not everyone has a lot of trouble with cats. I took care of 5 kittens at one point and it really wasn't so difficult for me. Then again, I didn't have a job and I don't know if you did and that's what made it harder for you, but anywho... Yeah, I have a mild allergy to cats too, but I have 3 cats and it's not a big deal. I get an allergy shot every once in a while and it calms them down for a few months.

How is it a "big adjustment" to get a cat? You put a litter box somewhere, feed them once a day, and have a cat. Boohoo.

It was hard for me to adjust to my cat because he was only 7 weeks old when I first got him and he got into EVERYTHING. He also had ridiculous amounts of energy that he liked to channel into play-attacking me anytime I sat still (or walked, or typed, or really did anything at all), including and especially when I was trying to sleep at night. Studying was really hard when I had to constantly wave a toy on a string around to keep him from pouncing on my arms and legs, and it was at least a few weeks before I got a full night's sleep. He's great now, though. He's actually napping on my desk while I write this. :)

Awww that's so horrible! You poor thing
