My Dad proposed to my mom when they were driving home from Taco Bell. They went to pick up her prom dress somewhere, and stopped by taco bell. They weren't dating at the time, and my mom was going to prom with someone else. They were just friends. My dad said 'You know you love me, lets get married." They got married when they were 19, and are now 41 and still together. (:

I'm not understanding this. it's not an fml because someone who obviously loves you asked you to marry him. How materialistic can you possibly be? Why would the t-shirt matter? and it's not a ydi, because if you are the kind of person who cares more about what he was wearing than who he is you really don't deserve to be with anyone.
