Your cats are dead in a few years, come on! I am deadly allergic to cats and I can't stay at my friends house because of that. You have no idea how frustrating that is. If your boyfriend said to you that you should get rid of the cats, it must be because he really, really have had enough. You should rethink what you are doing, or you're going to end up like an old single lady with 27 cats. Totally deserved. I feel sorry for your boyfriend. :)

young people should not own cats by themselves. they get tied down and lose many freedoms like being able to travel. or even spend a night at their boyfriends place. it is just like having a child that u have to take care of. LOSE THE CATS till u ate older and settled.

You made the right choice OP. Cat's are like family, and you know what they say: bros before hos. LOL Really, Your cats will give you devoted love unconditionally for however long they're in your lives. HE has a place to go, they don't. It's not right at all- these people are insensitive and uncaring when they insult you, because it's like asking a mother to get rid of her two infants for her boyfriend. No! My cat is my soulmate in fur, I haven't been a night without him in eight months (He's always tucked under my arm with his chin on my shoulder) And I don't plan to ever lose him. You're no crazy cat lady, nor are you a 'bitch' a '*****' or 'stupid'. You're intelligent, and obviously, you have priorities.

I've been reading through these comments, and I have a huge problem with the people that keep telling you you did the wrong thing. For starters, he's being a complete dick by forcing this decision on you. The kind of man that you're going to want to stay with, should be the kind that wouldn't do that. Another thing, pets are family, and in life family should come first. I bet a lot of these bastards that are telling you to abandon your family, are the ones who have never had any experience with pets, or understand how much they come to mean. Also, there are thousands of animals that die in shelters each day, because people mindlessly get rid of them like they're some old dress or overused fashion accessory. They NEED you, he doesn't. The sort of people who would put this decision on a person or would get rid of the cats during it, are little short of heartless. I know that that's a pretty harsh thing to say, and I know I'm writing this when all those comments have just severely pissed me off, but it doesn't make my point any less valid.
