Today, my friend and I were in her mom's car talking about which job was harder: actor or artist. I said, "Art is easy. You just scribble on a piece of paper and call it abstract art." Her mom squinted at me in the rear-view mirror and my friend stopped talking. Then she said, "My mom is an artist." FML

well youre an idiot because art is much more complicated ... ... I can't draw for my life nor can I pass it off like I can ... meanwhile people will see a movie with jessica Simpson and call that "acting" ... it ain't hard

...honestly? Comparing actors and artists is like comparing apples and pears. Done well, each require talent and effort.

Realism may take time, but not creativity.

So what? That is neither a FYL nor a YDI...big deal.

I rarely say this but YDI I'm an amature artist too, my paintings take hours, I also make power point cartoons

Should have just said "Both are piss easy if your talented in those areas and both are hard as hell if your not." Though saying that I must be really uncultured because I have seen some real shyte get sold for a small fortune.

You really can't compare the two, they're totally different things and they're both difficult to do correctly. Try going to art school and then we'll see who's calling art easy. It's one of the hardest majors a person can study.

why thank you. It's true. Last year was my first year of art school... I had 28 hours of classes per week, and no doubt 50+ hours of homework each week. No matter what anyone thinks, art is HARD work. Scribbling on a piece of paper does NOT give it justice.

Psh, you were right, though. I mean, just about abstract art. Art is actually pretty tight, but freaking abstract art is the dumbest shit EVER.

wow you're an ass. I hate people like you that are so close-minded.

I actually have to agree with you. Even though Art will be a career of which you love instead of getting a job you hate, art shouldn't be a career. Why? It's because once something becomes a job you are automatically dropped deadlines, what you need to paint specifically, and just what way they want you to paint it. If art is a hobby you can live freely and enjoy art itself. You can still sell your work, but keeping it as a career tends to not do well. Then again, you have to come up with the fact on people who are artists. Artists have abilities that are magnificent comapred to an average human. If someone has a talent to offer this world, they should follow through. Because when you do have a talent, you make money. Acting, music, cooking, and yes art. People who are supposidly making crap in your eyes is beauty in anothers. It's really all about prespective and how you follow through on it. Like an artist actually bought two blocks of wood, painted one white and one red, and sold thousands for it. Those pecies of wood are now in a musuem. We may fine that as a "What is that guy even thinking" but someone see beauty in it while we see crap. I actually think that if an artist realizes how people view things and willing to offer something, they're genious. Limiting their work to be so simple and yet being able to sell thouands is genious itself.
