Today, my husband and I were diagnosed with herpes. We've been together for five years and were both virgins before. Even the doctor couldn't give any other explanation. FML

just wow. you can't get herpes from a toilet seat. the virus can't live on a toilet seat. you can ONLY get it by exchanging blood, semen, or vaginal fluids. meaning you can get it thru sex only or born from a mother who has it. cold sores are a different strain of the herpes virus. so, even if someone has a cold sore it will not magically turn into genital herpes.

if an infected guy has herpes you can get it via oral sex. and vice versa. you don't need to have sex to get herpes.

This is not true. Oral herpies can still be passed to the genitals. Either type can show up orally or genitally. That is why so many people have it. They don't realize it can be spread both ways.
