He's obviously been brainwashed that gay people are "not normal", but asking such a question makes it seem that he's genuinely curious about gays (although from an ignorant viewpoint). Maybe there is still hope of teaching him that gays are actually regular human beings like him. Although, whether this could be the case kind of depends on the way he asked it.

I know this wasn't a great thing for him to say, or you to hear, but it goes to show that there is still a lot of ignorance in this day and age. Rather than ridiculing him, be patient and educate him. I've had to deal with offensive questions before that were born of ignorance rather than an intent to offend because I was genuinely the first real live gay they had met. take a bit of time and there'll be one less homophobe in the world...people fear what they don't understand

Wah wah wah, answer the fricken question, whats wrong with you, s/he asked and wanted to know. Why u may ask? Well, because they dont know,so what if the question is obvious,they are still taking an intrest,you are different from them so they are curious - im not gay and when i found out a friend was gay,i bomberd them with a lot of questions, now i know things like, his a bottom and his boyfriend is a top. I live in the worlds captial of homophob, where you can get hit, jailed on top of being disowned BY ALL THE COMMUNITY for being gay. So there is a lot of propaganda, for example, that gay people are devil worshipers or their parents are. So dont blame me, him or her for asking questions. Remember that gays are not widely accepted and so, there could be a religious or political system that could have influenced them negetivily and now you call them a barnacle all because they want to find out the truth. You being pehaps the only gay person they know at the moment can also set the tone for how they view gay people. If my friend had been a dick about it, it would have maintained the negetivity i had towards gays. Remember that there is a political, religious and education system that teaches people things, so because gays are not widely accepted, these systems may peddle lies. Let me ask you this, did anyone crucify you for asking if santa claus reindeers have wings when you were told by your parents and the whole community that he had left you a present. Misinformation or ingnorance has a source, now answer the fricken question and any strange questions they may ask for that matter you arse
