Today, it was snowing, and the campus looked just lovely. I sat on a nearby window ledge to enjoy the view. I was joined by a girl who looked fascinated as well, so I decided to make small talk. She nodded, smiled wistfully, and said, "There's herpes in the air today." FML

For some reason, I pictured Luna Lovegood saying it.

"There's herpes in the air today." *Awkard silence.* "I hope they have pudding." *Hops off ledge, skips away." Scene.

It's snowing in Minnesota in April? Not. It's 70 degrees and clear skies.

'Can you feel it coming in the air tonight?'

There are flowers called herpes, I belive

Cold sores are caused by the herpes virus, so most likely it's just a reference to that.

What a beautifully random thing to say!

sounds like you met Luna Lovegood. lol.

Am I the only one who found this funny? It's an expression (a dry one) applied to situations, particularly romantic ones, where there is an increased chance of people having sex. A play on the expression "there's love in the air". The same could said of valentine's day, or prom night. She found the scene romantic and figured others would too.

No, if you had read the comments, you'd know that tons of people before you found this brilliant statement absolutely hilarious.
