Alas, poor little dude

Today, my six year-old daughter discovered the family's pet rabbit in the basement freezer. The rabbit had died almost a year ago, and we'd stored it in the freezer, intending to bury it later. Here's to the trauma of losing the family pet. Twice. FML

At this point, you may as well get it stuffed and mounted on the wall. It will surely be a welcomed mantlepiece come Easter time.

Store it in the freezer? I'd be scared to know what else you store there.

They probably live in a really cold area where you have to wait until the soil in the ground thaws in spring before you could bury it (there are place like this, example: Alaska). It must suck if they would have had to put a dog or something in their freezer :P

33 - OP said the rabbit had been dead for a year

Hey where are the Popsicles? *Gasp!* Mr Nibbles!

This has happened to me before. Except I was fifteen, it was my dog in my father's freezer, and after the initial 'omg wtf' reaction, I still went in that freezer for popsicles and frozen pizzas. I haven't checked for a few years, so I don't know if he eventually buried her. Poor girl!

Really OP, rabbit stew should be made with fresh meat. Why did you store it for so long?

if it had died a yr ago, why didnt you just bury it then? Why freeze it before burying in the first place. You got what you deserved IMO

Perhaps it was winter when it died, and they couldn't dig through the frozen ground to bury it? And then they had forgotten about it by the time it was summer.

Op may have got what she deserves, but it's the children who suffer. LOL

That's just strange . . . . Is gramma in the freezer too?

OP- You obviously weren't "intending" to bury it because you left it in the freezer for a year. YDI.
