Customers from hell

By fucking fuck off - 01/01/2016 14:28 - United States

Today, a customer gave me hell because a high-spec game he bought wouldn't run on his ancient Windows XP PC. I ended up having to profusely apologize and refund him. Whoever coined the phrase "the customer is always right" should probably be shot, run over by a bus, then shot a few more times. FML

I once had to give a customer a refund on an item I apparently "didn't put in the bag" when working in retail. I saw her take it out of the shopping bag on her way out the door.

notalwaysright.com is a great site for stuff like this!

so true holy crap that guy could not expect it to run if its that old

I agree. That term is out dated. And the customer is just rude and ever always right.

Where do you work? If it's at Walmart, it's against store policy to give refunds for games, DVDs, etc. if the plastic seal has been opened. Believe me, I had it happen. I had a DVD box set and inside the plastic box and inside the cover box was a torn up box that couldn't be seen inside the plastic. But they would NOT refund me even though no one could see the box was torn up without taking the plastic off. So yeah, obviously this game had been opened, and most stores won't give refunds for games without the plastic covering. Yeah, I don't know who came up with "the customer is always right," but they totally suck. Must have been invented in another century when people were polite to each other.

Actually the customer isn't always right. Unless the salesperson informed them specifically that the game would work on his computer or the customer asked what computer it would work in and the salesperson implied that it would work on any computer then you aren't at fault. The customer isn't entitled to a refund unless the goods are fault, do not function as described, or the salesperson over represented the product.

I enjoy those little things. I try to explain things so they look and feel stupid if they are being rude, and I always smile and never really say sorry. Today I got called dumb and was told I should be fired because I couldn't hear this woman to I told her to stop babbling and maybe I could understand why she had an issue waiting in line like everyone else. The other people that waited longer than her then all looked a her with that wtf face and I know it made her feel stupid for acting like a toddler. Just remain calm and know that even when you feel dumb there are much dumber people out there :)

usually older people don't know things like that though that's assuming the customer was older like maybe you could make customers aware of that sort of thing before they purchase

notalwaysright.com will help ease your suffering and let you know you're not alone!

it's not the customer is always right. It's the customer is going to make you their bitch. Had a lady who wanted to get into it with me today because something wasn't on sale, and that was false advertising. Not everything is offered at a discount. Deal with it.
