I don't get it. Is there a rule against flinching, and why? False start? How do you suddenly flinch anyway? Was something flying at your face?
# 20 So your saying if you don't like the rules of something, you shouldn't do it? That's stupid. I don't like school rules, so I'm not going to go. I don't like the rules my parents tell me, so I'm going to run away. You get my point. @ OP, I'm so sorry. That sucks. They should realize you were just nervous or tense or whatever.
Oh man, I'm so sorry! I swam too and the same thing happened to me. I got out of the pool and cried. The only time I cried in ten years of swimming! Don't beat youself up about it, as long as you finished that's what really matters. Plus the officials can shove it up where the sun don't shine
Yes a rule against flinching! Jeeeze did no one watch uh... that guy Phelps win his 8 medals last summer (that they want to take away now because of a picture with him and a bong...).... Swimming rules, these races are decided by split seconds.... sucks you flinched! total suck!
Um, so I doubt you're actually a swimmer, because you would have mentioned what race you're doing (such as the 200m butterfly) and if the race itself really was as big as you're saying, you would have known you were disqualified before finishing because there would have been a DQ light. So shut up.
not all pools have a DQ light and half the time they dont erase the time until after the race has ended. I agree that some of the rules of swimming are incredibly stupid, like now during summer swiming you cant wear certain technical suits cuz they are too old to be on a list of the ones you can wear. I think that the fliching rule is ridiculous and very annoying. @ all the people who dont understand swimming you cant move at all right before the race starts. as soon as the starter says take your marks, you have to hold your self and im pretty sure that this rule is a rather new one or one that has just now being taken very seriously. ive been swimming for 8 yrs and it was just last year that i have ever heard of something like this.

How is that grounds for disqualification? And shouldn't they have told you before the race started that you were disqualified?
this actually is an fml. i'm sorry, that really sucks. don't let it weigh you down though, it'll only make you feel bad in the long run. :/
