Hey.... stars aren't always meaningless!!!! After ten years of careful thought I'm planning on getting three stars on the back of my neck (so they can be hidden by hair, if need be). The stars, for me, will stand for me and my kiddos.

I HAVE the nautical star thank you very much. My brother drowned last year while on a fishing trip. So don't go around pretending just because you think something is "lame" and has no meaning that is doesn't to the person. My cousin has six butterflies, and people think she is just being girly. The butterflies are for the children she lost, and she has finally decided to stop trying to have children. So see, even lame tattoos have meanings to people.

a lot of us in law enforcement have general tattoos to represent lost brothers and a few that represent some superstitions that some of us have, and I'm planning on getting one that represents a close friend I lost based on a nickname she gave me.

My fellow bikers tattoos also generally have meaning. People may think that my full sleeves and back work is just a decoration, but every piece in it means much more than the time taken to ink it on.

Hey, I am all of the above and I have a tattoo... quite a few of my most tattooed and pierced friends are Christians.

I am both, as is my sister, the one who is planning on being a tattoo artist.

So don't call all us virgins ignorant and prudish) Most of the people saying, "Tattoos are bad" might be doing it because they just think they are ugly or have never been around someone who got a tattoo for a REAL reason. Note: virgins don't hide in towers and fail to live our lives like the rest of the world. Christians who say we aren't supposed to have tattoos are doing it because, as I said in a higher comment, because of 1) puritanical values 2) Old testament: Leviticus 19:28: 28 " 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." Which while it says that in the bible people fail to look at the reasons behind it. 1) not to be pagan. 2) not to be vain. 3) not to hold the body above the spirit. If someone gets a cross tattoo and a bible verse on their arm does that mean they have sinned? Anyways, don't judge people who have tattoos just because you think it is wrong. We don't have to live our lives by your rules.
