Today, I got my first tattoo. When I showed my boyfriend, he asked where I got the design. I told him I saw it in a sketch book of his. He designed it for his last girlfriend, who got it in the same place. FML

I'm sorry, but this is freaking hilarious!!! You should've thought to ask him about it first. I mean, it is his work. I have no artistic talent, but if I did, and someone took one of my drawings and used it as a tattoo without my permission, I'd be a little upset

Yes, it was a bad decision on the part of the OP to take the design from her boyfriend without first discussing it with him, at which point she would have discovered that his ex had gotten it. However- to all of the people saying she deserved it for getting a tattoo at all and how tattoos are bad- people typically get tattoos because they are meaningful to them. My tattoos are expressions of my personality and who I am, just like anything else I would wear. The only difference is that they are important enough expressions to me that I made them a permanent part of my body. Furthermore, they serve as visual reminders to myself of who I am and what I stand for.

I agree. That was rude. While it might have seemed like a nice surprise, she ruined the gesture he did for his other girlfriend. Ex, if he is still friends with her, or perhaps in love with her, might not take him back because of this. It has more damage than the OP took the time to think about. Way to be a ****.

I do like tattoos and would get one if I had the chance but the last statement I am unsure of. You're judging people who prefer not to get tattoos, but I guess it's fair since they're judging you for getting a tattoo. However, two evils does not make a good. You see, with a tattoo comes several glares and nasty comments. If you can't deal with it, don't get a tattoo.

#31: first of all, to make the word "tattoo" plural, it would be "tattoos," not "tattoo's." Secondly, I have one doctoral degree, a post-doctoral degree, and just passed the state Bar exam on my first try. My degrees are in Philosophy and Law, two pursuits I think even you can agree are "intellectual." Guess what? I have a tattoo. Many of my friends with similar credentials have tattoos. Having been in a graduate educational environment for five years, I can, with confidence, refute your asinine claim that intellectuals rarely adorn their bodies with tattoos. While you are free, of course, to assert that tattoos are "stupid," please do not make fallacious claims about the intelligentsia when it is plainly obvious from your spelling and grammar that you are not part of the club.

I agree with #41, I'm a first year college stupid, MENSA member, and I'm major in Psychology, Financing, and minoring in Political Sciences, I have 8 tattoos. Also, some of my Professors, and fellow MENSA members have Tattoos... Know anyone with more intellectual tendencies?

Psychology is a VERY easy major (and I should know, since I have a 4.0 in it as my second major...) so if you're going to drop your intellectual credentials, I'd try again.

I'm assuming with the whole "xTUFFx" thing you're refering to someone of the straight edge lifestyle? not everyone who lives the sXe lifestyle, acts that way. when it comes to the music part, yes, we do. I have many tattoos and I'd like to say I'm very intelligent. I for one don't think I'm "tuff shit" because I have tattoos and piercings. I have them for myself and my view on art. I could careless what someone who see's them thinks. if they're so quick to make a judgment without at least conversating with me first, then they aren't worth my time. you too have fallen into the hole with the other ill informed FML posters on this with the "xTUFFx" statement.

Hahaha, I wasn't referring to straight-edge with the whole xTUFFx thing. I know the X's happen to be commonly associated with sXe, but I just choose not to use them that way. I was referring to the person as someone who thought they were tough shit for having tattoos, I never intended it to be anything against straightedge people at all. Getting something like that tattooed on yourself without telling him first is like violating a part of the trust he _HAD_ in you. Did he dump you shortly after the incident? I wouldn't be surprised.
