Lawman

Today, my boss in my police department told me to start enforcing the "No bikes on sidewalks" law, which we usually ignore. I pulled up behind the first person I saw riding a bike on a sidewalk and flashed my lights. It turned out to be a boy with Down's syndrome, who was so upset he cried and peed. FML

wow, that really sucks. its not your fault at all, how were you to know that the kid had down syndrome? You were just doing your job. Don't worry about it man

You shouldn't feel bad about enforcing the law, and you should definitely tell your boss what happened.

That does suck, but to comment on the people talking about the bike lanes... I live in Oklahoma, and the aren't any bike lanes, except the ones on my college campus, and they aren't even for traveling on/by the roads. They are just for traveling on campus, to get to your classes. And also, people saying bike riders should ride on the road, what about little kids? Do you really think that is smart?

@Alkron, there's a HUGE difference between a bike and a car. If I get rear-ended in a car, I have a chance of surviving. If I get rear ended on a bike, I'm dead. Same thing for if I get T-boned. I'm NOT surviving that on a bike! I ride the sidewalk because I value my life!

Did you put water on your crotch to make it look like you peed your pants too so he wouldn't feel bad?

I understand he has down syndrome, but the law still applies. Does this mean that people with disabilities can commit crimes and not have punishment? That does not seem right to me.

I hate when bicyclists are riding on the sidewalk. The entire city has bike lanes in the road for a reason.

#32, even if it's true, you're an asshole.

Yeah, that is a WEIRD ******* law. Bikes are too slow and small to drive safely on roads... Where are you supposed to go? Yeah, the US is filled with rich lazy people and cheap [read: paid for by our military] gasoline, so bike lanes are few and far between... which makes them useless, since they're so ******* far apart. "Today, I tried to use a valid form of transportation. FML"

That's a stupid law. Sometimes those stupid bicycle lanes are too small. But whatever. Tell your boss, you shouldn't feel bad. You were just doing your job.

Don't feel so bad, it's not like you knew he had Downs Syndrome! You were just doing your job!
