Memories

Today, I saw my boyfriend for the last time for two years. When we got back from dinner, we sat in his truck for a little while to talk. A few minutes later, my mom comes flying out of my house screaming, "Satan is here, and he is tempting you!" That is the last memory he will have of me. FML

Wow, your mom's bat shit insane.

Sounds like you need to move out of your parents house. Bible-bashing parents are not healthy for your mental state long term. Thats the kind of shit that ***** people up into believing that enjoying taking a shit too much is a sin or something equally stupid like that. I'm not saying all god squad parents are bad but the ones that force their religion onto their children from a young age are no better than Scientologists IMO.

Was she being serious ? I would definitely shoot my mother after that one .

Now let me think, can anyone think of some reason that (what i assume to be) an american male would be going away for two years without having any contact with his partner? Do any of you people here have any deductive abilities whatsoever? A fruitbat could reason better than some of you.

Since op lives in Utah it's very common for young men to leave on "missions" for two years when they turn 19. I'm a Mormon myself, so I'd say either military or leaving for a mission.

#159. even in the military you are allowed to communicate with family and friends. so from one member to another, it's definitely mission

#5...NO SHIT SHES SUPER RELIGIOUS...and wow i agree with #1...that is batshit right there...i'd probably dig my own grave, lie in it, and kill myself if that happened to me

I assumed he's going overseas in the military. She didn't say there would be no contact, just that she wouldn't get to see him. Anyway, that sucks for you. I'm sure if you've been dating a while he already knows your mom is a crazy person anyway. But you do need to get some distance from her if she's that insane. That's not healthy.

#7 I don't understand why you would say that the if the OP is old enough to go to dinner, they are old enough not to have mom come out and yell, that doesn't make any sense. There is no age requirement for going out to dinner. There are a lot of places where kids can drive at 14, 15, or 16, meaning they could be out in his truck coming back from dinner and in my opinion still young enough for mom to have an opinion on what they are doing.

Pretty sure no age is young enough to have your mom run out screaming "SATAN IS TEMPTING YOU!"

#8 i cant stop laughing about that

Religion is the plague thats killing the mental health of mankind.

#15. I don't think you're ever too old to not have your mom have an opinion on what their child is doing, unless their mother is dead. I'm 20 (not that old, I know), and my mom still throws in her two cents when she can, and my grandma disapproved of my mom's marriage when my mom was in her 30s.

Thanks Canicula (#12), for comparing my deductive abilities to that of a fruitbat, I concider anything that flies a demi-god, as do you I presume. (For lo and behold, you didn't mean to insult me did you?) I presumed the writer is NOT american, I don't mean to bash her english, but I personally don't know how to interpret the phrase "I saw my boyfriend for the last time for two years". It does NOT obviously mean (to me) that they've been together for two years. Could be that, could be they won't see each other for two years. As #14 said, not seeing someone is not the same thing as no contact. Doesn't Israel have a certain lifestyle where you don't leave a village-like military camp for 7 years? I mean, around the world there are soooo many habits I know nothing about, could be anything. But, as you're obviously smarter than me, would you be so kind to tell me what the author meant? And @ # 15, I didn't mean so much that it's impossible (he could have a car aged 16 and she could be 3 years younger, my boyfriend and I differ 5 years in age), just that it's less likely. By the way, lmao @ #8 :D

He meant that the OP wrote the FML perfectly clearly, and with average deduction skills based on knowledge of general age category and other things one would assume quite reasonably that the OP's boyfriend is being deployed elsewhere for two years for military duty.
