Not so tech savvy

Today, I called Tech Support because the computer program wouldn't let me open files for my online classes. After an hour, and being walked through the downloading process multiple times. There was a pause and he said, "You're a fucking idiot." and hung up. It still won't work. FML

You deserved it for being so incredibly ignorant and not being able to follow simple instructions. For the rest of you saying that the person was rude and should be fired, of course it was rude but you obviously didn't read the FML where he said for an HOUR. If it's not already hard enough to try to troubleshoot or fix something over the phone for an hour, imagine repeating the same instructions just because a person cannot comprehend it. Those tech people have years of computer training then specialized training within their own company's products. You would have to work at tech support to understand how many morons they deal with every day for simple problems. Maybe you all don't understand it because you havn't been around enough stupid people in your lives.

A similar thing happened to me where the woman on the phone was being really offensive and impatient and when I said "Can you please not shout at me" she hung up. When I called back her boss defended her and said he couldn't do anything about it because I didn't have proof she hung up on me! I'm still in pain over this and it happened like five years ago! :-(

I've done a lot of tech support before switching to network administration and most of the time, confusion is caused by the person calling for support. The person calling for support will give you wrong or misleading information even if they don't know they are doing it. Help desk and tech support have to deal with this all day and can only take so much. So YDI.
