It sounds like there's something more to this story. Normal people don't react like that unless they've built up some kind of anger or resentment towards someone - not necessarily towards you. I'd talk to him about it, sounds like he has self esteem issues, performance anxiety, or he might feel insufficient or not good enough.

What a weird dude. I think you should sit down with him and talk for one about his temper and his complex about being told what to do and for two sex is passionate he should understand words come out in the heat of the moment. Though now I'm wondering if his ego was bruised because he thought he was doing a good job but then to have you say something seemingly to the contrary. Maybe he needs some building up. Tell him he's a god in the sack or you love his penis or something. Good luck.
