@ #116 - FIFTY cents to ride the bus??? Here, it's $3. Jesus.
Whine more. Your parents were just having fun - maybe they didn't think it through all the way, but get over it. There is one thing that I absolutely do not think people should have handed to them, and that is a car. It's partly about it being one of the first big things you get in life, and it's a good way to teach fiscal responsibility, pride in your own accomplishments, etc. The other part is that too often the kids who were given cars for nothing are the same ones that don't respect the car or the road and end up in a wreck (possibly injuring other people). Driver training is shitty enough as is in this country (USA), at least if they had to work for their car they are likely to respect it a bit more.
my parent's definitely did this to me too. except i was having to pick between a car and a school trip to china.. so my parents bought me chopsticks and a grow-your-own-car thing and told me to pick one. i picked china. i got the car later ;) haha
This was probably just your parents' way of telling you to quit begging. Take it in stride, get over it, and start saving.
Save your money, and maybe you'll be able to afford one. Best of luck.
Its always more worth it when you buy work for it yourself. I know, my parents wouldn't even lend me a penny let alone get me a car LOL
That's very smart on their part. Most people don't get a free ride.

:-) That's basically what my family did to my brother, only we used a model BMW. You kind of deserve that - car's aren't toys and they are expensive to buy and worse to insure. Get a job and pay for it yourself. Best of luck!
I wouldn't mind getting Hot Wheels cars...
